The great depression & The new deal
After the first world war ended in the 1918, the 1920's became known as "The Roaring Twenties" or "The Jazz Age" due to being filled with prosperity. Business was booming and everything was great. Then in 1929, the Stock Market crashed sending America's economy in a downward spiral. During the 1930's, many became unemployed, this time of great disparity became known as The Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt made the New Deal to end this time of great disparity. The New Deal provided the '3 Rs' Relief, Recovery, and Reform. Though it was created to provide relief, many people still believed it was an act against their constitutional rights.
Using the Michigan eLibrary, found at http://www.mel.org/, we had to research and find a scholarly article using a database (rather than using Google). The two articles we had to research we about The Great Depression and The New Deal, found to the left. The article about The Great Depression takes you through the life of a person during this time and the article of the New Deal describes points in time that lead to the beginning of the New Deal and how it was carried out in the economy.

Using the animation website, GoAnimate.com, we had to create a few 30 second animations that will teach you about the topics: What Was the Great Depression, Causes of the Great Depression, and FDR and the New Deal. Those videos can be found below.
Similes in history
A simile is a figure of speech that makes a connection between two unlike things by using words such as like, as, than, or resembles. We had to create several examples of historic similes, using intangible and tangible words/phrases together. Those examples are listed below.
1. The New Deal was like a hot shower, because it brought relief to the soreness.
2. The Great Depression was like The Terminator, because "I'll be back."
3. The Great Depression was like a stab in the back, because it wasn't seen coming.
4. The New Deal was like a rainbow after rain, because this would help bring America out of the depression.
5. The Great Depression was like a bag filled with rocks, because the economy fell to the ground.
6. The New Deal was like a ray of hope, because it deceased the economy's problems.

Historical Fiction
We had to create a historical fiction story in which it told a story timed during The Great Depression. The story had to be based upon one photograph of our choosing. Within the story we had to include: One historical event, One specific person, One specific place, and One specific date. The historical fiction story can be found by clicking the button below.
World war II
The Second World War broke out after Nazi Germany invaded Poland in 1939. This world war contained many modernized weapons, such as the machine guns. The United States was not involved until 1941, after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Also, the Nazis began a genocide against Jewish people. World War II ended in 1945 with the last surrender of the Axis Powers, Japan.
Using the Picture editing website, Fotoflexer.com, we had to create a collage of three minorities of World War II. Of these three minorities, one had to be African American, one woman, and one of your choice. This project was designed to illustrate the people who were essential to World War II. These project can be found to the right.
